Highlights of 2013

January 29th, 2013

Just a reminder:  There is still time to book stays for Valentine’s Day and of course the Annual Newport Seafood Festival, February 21, 22, 23, and 24. Remember Thursday Feb. 21 can only be purchased online, not at the door. We have had a sight to behold: over a week of beautiful blue sky and sun! We even sat on the patio having morning coffee for a few mornings. Had some intense storms, upwards of 98 mph at Yaquina Head.  The new overlook deck is done with a huge firepit. And I am in the process of placing 18″ x 18″ “Sandy Beach” tile in the dining room. Gorgeous! If I don’t say so myself.

Anyway, January has been a little on the cold side and hoping that February will have some great storms for those of you that like storm watching. Remember that between these storms, we have some of the most beautiful sunny and bright blue sky imaginable. Look forward to your calls and see you at the Ocean House!!

Second Year and Full Speed Ahead

December 27th, 2012

Happy New Year to all and thank you for coming to enjoy the Ocean House. As we close our first year here in Newport, we start year two running: the overlook deck is finished with more room, safer footing (no steps), and a brand new FirePit to christen. Views abound from stem to stern; Nye Beach and points South to Yaquina Head. The dining room has a new look with its new beautifully laid tile floor appropriately named Sandy Beach.

The 36th Annual Newport Wine and Seafood Festival is February 21 – 24, 2013 and we still have a few spots left, so call early and reserve.

Winter may be quiet crowd wise, but it’s always fun to watch the storms at the beach. So come, relax with a good book and cup of cocoa, put your feet up and watch Mother Nature’s show.

See You Soon,

A New Beginning… The Calling of the Oregon Coast!

November 13th, 2011

As we say goodbye to Terry and the gang, Ocean House welcomes the new owners from the High Rocky Mountains.  Used to the rural cities and the great outdoors, we fell in love with this sweet area known as Newport, the grand Pacific Ocean with its spectacular waves and rocky cliffs.  We are Craig and Dawn Lodge (yes, that is our name), your new innkeepers and would like to extend a warm greeting to all of you.   Since we are only the stewards of the Inn, the heart and soul of the Ocean House will continue to be a place of peace and relaxation.  A Couples Retreat!

We look forward to seeing you soon,
