Ocean House History
Ocean House Inn Bed and Breakfast began as a beach cottage built in the 1940's on a forested bluff overlooking Agate Beach just north of Newport, OR. The last family to use it as a home, converted it to a bed and breakfast in 1984 after their children were grown. A few years later, as the demand grew for this beautiful spot, they began to expand over the top of the cottage. Eventually the footprint of the home was extended to include eight spacious bedrooms with private baths, each with breathtaking views of the sea and nearby headlands as well. Featured in a Sunset magazine article in February 2004 as the best place to stay in Newport, Ocean House still continues the tradition of beauty, comfort, and charm first found in the original beach cottage.
